Karen Foley, a Union Vale resident since 1998, began her journey at SUNY Oswego, where she earned a B.A. in Communication Studies. In addition to raising her family, Karen's ongoing involvement in volunteering with diverse community organizations highlights her commitment to service. She spent 8 years as a volunteer in Vail Farm and Union Vale Middle school libraries and also served as a reading mentor. Karen will help bring the Union Vale Library's vision to life by fostering an inclusive and enriching environment for all members of our community. Her dedication to service and her genuine passion for libraries make her a valuable asset to the Union Vale Library team, ensuring its continued growth and success for years to come.
Alex Cohen, MLIS has an extensive background in library management, communication, and library information science. He completed his graduate degree in Library and Information Science with an Advanced Certificate in the knowledge management at Long Island University 2005. During his time as a library consultant, he has worked with many local and international libraries, archives, special libraries and collections. Estimated to be published in December of 2024, his book on library planning and design (Elsevier) will bring a new aspect of business strategy to libraries. Mr. Cohen brings his knowledge and passion to this development and will create a library where all members of the community will have the opportunity to thrive.
